Office Handouts

Here are copies of many of the patient handouts I use in my practice.  They are for my patients.  You are free to use them, but I make no guarantees of cures, or that they will work for you.  All underlined are down loadable or linked.  If you are asked for a password, choose "cancel".

Allergies, Live with Your Allergies From Town and Country by Diane Guernsey (Reader's Digest April, 2000)  Some reasonable points.

Allergy Avoidance Information; these are 200-800 K .PDF files.  You need Adobe Reader.  May take a while to load.

Food Allergy Web Site.

Allergic to cow's (bovine) milk?  Some babies are...and this causes ear infections.  Use Soy Formula, or Neocate.  Milk in older children can cause enlarged tonsils, adenoids, and glands.  Also, runny nose, sinus infections, and tonsillitis.  Need other sources of calcium?  Try these.

Therapeutic Vitamin List for benefits other than simple vitamin deficiency, like chemical allergy and free radicals. 

Excessive earwax.  Make sure you do not have a hole in your eardrum, or a "tube".

Outer ear problems: What to do about Dry, "itchy" ears, Swimmer's ear, "Fungus" ears.

Ear Rinses for specific ear problems:

Treatment of skin covered infected mastoid cavities...make sure you have one.

Noise Induced High Frequency Hearing Loss from loud music, machines, guns, etc.

Dry nose, phlegm, postnasal drip  General nose care for the bothered.  Steamers can help.

Patient Ear, Nose & Throat Information. Files from the American Academy of Otolaryngology--Head and Neck Surgery.

Nose cleaning program.  Principally for after sinus surgery, but general use is okay.

Hypertonic Saline Rinse.  A recipe as a result of reports of "sinus" improvement after ocean swimming.  Some swear by it.

Esophageal Reflux.  Heartburn?  Many symptoms of phlegm, sinus, and sore throat are from acid silently regurgitating into the food tube at night.  Also, night cough, especially in children.  A Link for voice problems.

Salicylate Avoidance.  Aspirin and similar compounds can cause nose symptoms or nasal polyps and/or asthma.  Also, hives and severe reactions.

Headache triggers, common causes of headaches.

Headaches and diet  Not mine originally.  Some I don't share agreement.

Tonsil diet.  Just had your tonsils out?  Use this diet until you are normal again.

Ear Tubes.  (Word File) You or your child just have ear ventilating tubes placed?  (Myringotomy and tube placement)   Do this.

Ear Surgery.  General expectations and home care after middle ear, mastoid, or ear drum repair surgery.

Sinus Surgery.  If I did your surgery, you already have this form.  Download from here if you need an extra copy.
