After Warren and I left the American Peony Society National Convention in June of 2002, it was a natural side trip to the Dubuque Arboretum on the way home.  Warren learned that there was a good conifer collection there.  We learned they had a great hosta collection as well.  We only had a late afternoon and early evening to tour.  It is not enough.

I would like to return and spend a day or so there.  The hosta collection is wonderful and very extensive.  Hybridizers like Gowan and Benedict have plots there for new introductions, as well as their well known cultivars.

I can't remember all the names, but if you are perusing this, you are probably a plant nut and know the names already.

I'll add some captions when I get around to it.  When you click on the thumbnails, some of the pictures opening will be 1 meg.  The virtual directory lists the bytes, but the pictures are unnamed.

Here's a taste of it.  The rest is too large for one page.  Go to this virtual directory.
