Up through Montana to the Canadian Rockies, across the "Yellow Head" to Prince Rupert. Then down by ferry to Vancouver Island, Victoria and a dash across I-90 to home. Susie and I go on the BMW K1200 LTC. We went with what we could pack on the bike. I made all the reservations before leaving, estimating the mileage and riding time for each day. Over all it worked out well.
We were in Rapid City on a Thursday of the Sturgis Rally. We didn't ride the hills or visit Sturgis this trip. It was simply a way spot on the trip to Canada. The stay at the Holiday Inn in Rapid City was the most expensive room of the entire trip! The next day we rode to the Super 8 in Great Falls, Montana. Early afternoon of the following day brought us to East Glacier National Park, Montana, at the start of the Going-To-The-Sun Road.
Starting west across Interstate 90, you have to stop at Wall Drug, before reaching the Black Hills.
