My Bicycling Pictures

I usually ride the recumbent.  I started with uprights, own a number of them.  I changed to the recumbent after Brad tired of riding the tandem with me for over 10 years.  Susie rides the tandem with me now.  Lightning Cycles makes great recumbents.  I started with my P-38, and still ride it on long tours.  The racy, lighter, and pricey carbon fiber R-84 is my favorite.  Recumbents are very comfortable, and long legged, but remember...you can't stand up on hills!

Other pictures of biking exploits.  Some from Jerry Neely.

Carbon fiber R-84.

The bike is hollow, somewhat noisy. Very light weight at 19 lbs.

Fast on flats and downs. Less wind resistance.

You use the same muscles for climbing. The spinoff in the rain can be brutal.

Fall color tour.

Wynot, NE. The jump off of the big push to Yankton. I drink the soda. Beer turns my legs to mush.

Cutting the rug at the "Good Times" Bar.

The most excitement Wynot had seen in a long time. Also, the strangest clothing.

Stone Park in Fall on Mt. Lucia.

10/30/88 mountain biking.

The "Wall".

Dutch and Nibbs, Bouvier des Flanders following me. Dead now many years, but were treasured companions.

Open Shelter, Stone Park.

I turn the brats. Cool days of Fall, hot brats with sauerkraut after an afternoon ride.

Mike Chiquot.

Mostly rides tandems with 'Linda'. He didn't want his picture shown.

Gateway Guys do RAGBRAI.

Tradition to ride to start. Lunch at Hawarden. The tradition was over 100 miles that day, hot and humid. How "RocketMan" got named. Behind in middle. See LAN party.

Virtual RAGBRAI.

Web cams are there, plus satellite uplink, like this one.

The Argo Hotel dining room.

After the ride from Sioux City. Headwinds, temps in 50's.

The Alcester connection. They didn't ride...this time.

A few beers makes the pain of the ride disappear.

Susie in leather. We rode the motorcycle up. I had to do the Garden Club Sale, so didn't have time to cycle...lucky me.

Crofton.

Being late has advantages, like a 'honeymoon' table by the fireplace in the corner with nice fresh lilacs; or were they afraid of the 'bikers'.
