They gave us the invitation, and even found an inexpensive motel by them in Fort Myers, FL.  With the last two weeks of January approaching, and then usually the worst weather in Iowa, we decide to take off for a couple weeks.

It was the worst 2 weeks of winter in Iowa, but we should have stayed a couple weeks more.  The temperature in Iowa went to -14, plus blizzard or two.  This winter is the heaviest snowfall in years.

Florida was in the 70's and 60's.  Heavenly for us, but the locals at Ding Darling Reserve on Sanibel Island wore earmuffs!

Still, can be very expensive.  As I said to Susie: "Looks like a lot of rich old people trying to spend their money as fast as they can before they die."  Service industries make a fortune down there, so you might try it.  But they all clear out for summer.  One nursery man told me that the torrential rain, 100% humidity, and 95+ degrees every day make everything green....the sidewalks, railings, etc.  And what isn't green is under water!

We hung out with Derrill and Lois, and their friends.  Went up and down the coast gawking, checked out the Edison-Ford Estates.  Mostly we kept going back to Sanibel and Captiva Island to shell, ride a tandem, or walk the beach.
